Recent Additions to My Skincare Routine

Like many of beauty lovers, I’m constantly trying out new lotions and potions in the quest for moisturised skin and as I’m slowly climbing the age stairs of 30s, I’ve started looking for skin care to tackle the fine lines.

I’ve been known in my time to hover over a steaming hot bowl of water, with a dollop of herbal oil in and a towel over my head, to rid my face of any impurities and to moisturise. While I still swear by this, it’s not the easiest of options, particularly if you have a very busy schedule. My long suffering family are used to the bizarre sight of seeing my head in a bowl by now, but there’s no arguing that skin care products are easier solution.

Today, I want to share with you some skin care products that I’ve added to my daily beauty routine few months ago and now I cannot live without them:

TheFaceShop Blanclouding Moisture Cream

The main thing I noticed about this product was that it doesn’t feel sticky – a problem I’ve had with other moisturisers. It’s light on the skin, so not a problem if you like to apply your make up straight after. It’s one of my big bears when your makeup sticks to your moisturiser! It doesn’t contain SPF, which means it’s a good idea to apply sunscreen if you’re exposed to the sun, although it also means you can wear it as a day cream or night cream. It’s reasonably priced and one I’ll be buying again!

TheFaceShop Pore Minimizer Controlling Toner with Powder for All Skin Types

I’m not usually one for pore minimizers but was attracted to the packaging of this product. It’s targeted as a toner for those who have combination to oily skin, helping to keep your skin dry if you suffer from oily skin.

You can see all the powder in the bottle, so you have to shake it well before applying it. It has a great smell too, which is something I always look for in skincare. Again, it’s reasonable prices, so if you’re looking for a product to minimise pores, it’s well worth a try.

The Face Shop Rice Water Cleansing Foam

A good cleansing foam is a must have in any makeup bag. For me, it’s one of the key pieces in skincare. How can you expect to have clear skin if you don’t rid it of the day’s muck? It also gives you a sparkling clean surface to work from before applying your makeup for the day.

The Rice Water Cleansing Foam is a snip of the price of others I’ve tried, which can only be a positive and makes my skin feel immaculate. Lather it onto your skin twice a day and won’t need any other form of cleanser. This is a must buy.

Finally, I’m not a skincare expert, but I know that the ingredients in these products plump your skin and keep it from sagging, which should counter the ageing process. That’s me sold. I’m not at the stage where I want a frozen looking face and for now, I’ll stick to my little pot from the fountain of youth.

Things You Should Consider Doing Before Your Big 30

FullSizeRenderThere is no certain age for doing things you love. The perfect time to do things is when you want to do them, afford doing them and handle their consequences.
However, let us agree that as we grow up things change. We start having more responsibilities, our lives get more complicated and we have less time to do things we always wanted to accomplish.

For all those of you who have not turned 30 yet, here is a bucket list of things you may want to consider before your life gets too busy.

1. Travel more
Travel more and travel not like a tourist. Travel to exotic places and interact with strangers.

Traveling at a young age is desirable, because it teaches you a wide variety of things that you can use in your daily life, such as finding solutions to the most difficult situations, dealing with different mentalities and understanding others. Traveling makes you a street smart, which is a very important complement for being a school smart. Moreover, when you travel you acquire an exceptional wisdom that sometimes cannot be obtained from books.

2. Read more
Reading is your way to gain knowledge. At some point you may lose your job, position, health and even people, but you can never lose knowledge.

Also, a reader is a well-rounded person who is equipped with the best asset to face any life circumstances. So, read more when you are young, because the more you read the more information you have in your head and you never know when this information might come in handy.

3. Listen more, talk less
Listening does not only mean allowing others to complete their speech, but it also means that you are allowing yourself to understand the other person and get prepared to respond based on the situation. This will result in a deeper contribution to the conversation and will reflect a better image about you.

Listening helps you become a better thinker and a more balanced person, because you will train yourself to not to jump to conclusions without listening to the story from all dimensions. As a result people will appreciate you more and wait for what you are going to say.

4. Surround yourself with many people, but trust few
People. You cannot live without them, but you have to be careful with them. They are the best and the worst thing that happens to you. Some will help you become a better person and others will drag you down to their level. Some people will betray you and walk away from you when you need them the most.

Only few people will change your life to the better, so it is worth it to spend your life looking for them. When you find them, hold them close to you and do for them as they do for you.
To be able to find the precious few, surround yourself with many people, winnow out those who you don’t need in your life and allow a limited number of people in your close circle.

5. Your health is priceless, appreciate, nurture and protect it
When you are in your 20s your health is at its peak, so don’t take it for granted because it will not stay like that for the rest of your life. You have to appreciate your health and nurture it to maintain your strength and energy across your life span. This can be realized by:

a) A healthy and a balanced diet, to reduce disease risk, regulate your blood cholesterol levels and maintain a strong immune system.

b) Steady exercise to boost your brain power, save your brain from cognitive decline at an older age and sharpen your memory and ability to learning new things.

In addition to your body, you have to take care of your skin. When you are in your twenties your skin is in its ‘glory years’ and if you don’t take care of it now, then it will start losing its radiance at an early age. My advice to you is to consult an expert and start using anti-aging products now. Remember that when you get older, your skin starts losing collagen and elastic tissue and the best thing you can do to delay the appearance of the thin lines on your face is wearing sunscreen to protect your skin against early aging caused by the sun’s UV lines.

6. Learn to be patient
It is said that: “In order to live happy you have to plan in decades, work in years and live in days”. I agree with this saying to a great extent. In my opinion one should learn to be patient, because valuable things will not come to you quickly. Things that take time to be built and gained are the things that you will appreciate the most and will be careful not to lose.

Another good thing about not getting what you want immediately is that when you get used to living for a long time without the things you like, it will be easier for you to get along with life if you lose them again. If you know how life feels like without something, it won’t scare you to lose it, because we are only afraid of the unknown.

7. Embrace failure and rejection with grace
Failure is not the end of the world, but it is the key to success.
In fact, failure is a great opportunity to understand your weaknesses, strength points and learn from your own mistakes.

The more you fail, the harder you get on yourself and become more determined to succeed. Always remember that the most successful stories in life had a long hard struggle behind them and a person who has never failed has never lived.

Welcome On Board!

life

Hello friends,

Welcome on board to this new section in Wafa’s Diary 🙂

This is the first time I write a non-product profiling topic. In my one year or so of blogging experience, I have not shared any personal experiences or lessons that I learnt the hard way sometimes and the easy way at other times.

Usually I am a person who sets up high walls around herself and does not open up easily or tell others what she thinks or feels. Although I might seem the most talkative one in any group I am in, but if you listen carefully to what I say you will find out that it is either incomplete or does not answer any queries.

Generally, I am very comfortable in talking in one on one meetings, whether they are casual or formal. I find gatherings awkward. I feel shy to talk when surrounded by many people. Some people think I am arrogant or not sociable. In group meetings, I either become a listener or escape to socializing virtually through the social media applications on my mobile phone. If I find myself obliged to talk or practice actual socialization, I get along with it by releasing a lot of smiles or interjections.

However, this has been changing recently thanks to a friend of mine, who has helped my mind let go allowing me to express myself with ease. This has led me to open this new section in the blog, under the name (Life Lessons). This division is a significant progress for me. Of course, I am still uncomfortable expressing myself ‘too much’ in group meet-ups, but at least, now I can write to you sharing my own thoughts, and opinion.

Here’s a shout out to my friend and if you guys like what you read in this section please say ‘Thank you Yin’. 😀

Now, let’s move to the next topic in this part of the blog:

Casual wear for an outdoor gathering

Hi everyone!

As you can see, weather is getting better finally. Hence I decided to arrange an outdoor meet up with my friends, so we can enjoy some fresh air.

For this chilled back gathering I decided to wear a white linen top and straight cut blue jeans trousers.

I accessorized them with beige bag and sandals.

Reposting from Oct 2014 – Turban Tutorial Video

Hello my beauties,
Turbans is one of the most trending styles this season and I am a big fan of this trend.
Many girls ask me how I tie my turbans. Actually there is more than one style and many ways to tie them. Today I am sharing this tutorial about one of my favourite styles. This style is easy to apply and takes less than two minutes and then… tararara… You are ready to go 😉
This style is suitable for casual clothes, because it goes well with cotton scarves. You can even wear it for parties or special events if you use silk scarf.
