Sumptuous Scervino

When it comes to choosing the perfect outfit for a special evening out, I’ve always been a fan of feminine pieces. I’m talking about sophisticated as opposed to over-the-top ruffles. To be honest, I’m a bit of a fusspot when it comes to pulling my outfits together and am guaranteed to spend a good month on the hunt before I narrow in on my prey. I discovered Ermanno Scervino’s Spring Summer 2016 collection when I was on the hunt for a wedding outfit. Granted, the wedding isn’t until April, but I gave myself plenty of time because it’s a close friend’s special day.

The whole collection is right up my street. It’s feminine, with its gorgeously soft fabrics, effects of lace and sharp cuts. If there’s a piece every woman should have in her wardrobe, it’s a timeless gown that does all the talking, without the need to accessorise. Over the years, I’ve found it’s a go-to item that you can revisit and pull out of the wardrobe when you need to impress.

Ermanno Scervino ticks all of my boxes. The dusky pink and white lace gowns in their new collection are elegant and ooze femininity. They look expensive, which may sound like a silly statement but in my experience, you can pay a lot of money for items and not be able to decipher their worth. These dresses look and feel high quality – think investment pieces. As they look very feminine, you can wear them in many different ways depending on the season and occasion. In the summer or at a wedding (which is where I’ll be donning my gown), you can wear an elegant strap heel. You don’t need to accessorise more than that. The dresses make enough of a statement! To add some edge in the winter months or for less formal occasions, you can add a strong ankle boot. As I said, they’re timeless so you can update the accompanying shoe and keep the dress as the staple.

Of course, while I was looking for my gown, my eyes were averted to the other pieces in the Ermanno Scervino collection. Like a kid in a candy shop. I’ve fallen in love with the tuxedo dust coats. They’re not for everyone, but I like sharp pieces in my wardrobe. I tend to wear them to death, until I realise I may have over worn it and will then tuck it into the back of my wardrobe, before resurrecting again a year down the line. It’s an item I’d recommend for those who like to stay ahead of the trend. You can wear it on top of your gown or pair with some simple trousers to make a statement.

All in all, for me, the great thing about the collection is that it’s effortless. Each piece can be worn alone, or you can layer and mix them up to create different looks. Stand out from the crowd!

Guess which one I will be wearing at my friend’s wedding? 😉
